Start With WHO

Start with WHO… then follow with WHY and whatever comes after that.

WHO asks what you are wanting to become.

WHY asks your intention for becoming that.

Success is something you attract by the person you become. -  Jim Rohn

There are two versions we can become: the low version (ego) or the high version (soul). WHO do you want to become?

Let me share what I know of to be the difference between the intention set behind becoming one of the two versions.

The ego’s perspective of success looks something like this: on top of the world, with all the money, fame, and power to acquire. Success is all about what it can get.

On the other hand, the soul’s perspective looks something like this: on top of the world, with all the money, fame, and power to serve. Success is all about what it can give.

Tricky? Yep, we are magicians tricked by our own magic.

But I hope to reveal a magician’s secret here, so we can learn again to be the magic.

The soul desires growth. It is the prime reason why we crave so much for success. But oftentimes, we feed the cravings of the ego and not the desires of the soul.

This is why it’s not only crucial, but it’s the first step in whatever it is you want to achieve in life — to Start With WHO.

But you might wonder, “Ok, I’ll start with who. But can I still be successful without selling my soul?”

YES. Because you don’t sell your soul. You sell what your soul has to offer. And what your soul has to offer comes from a place of giving — the exact opposite of getting, which is what the ego wants.

Only then can we entertain the question Why.

Why do you want to do it? Is it because you want to give something?
Or you want to get something?

The answer will depend on WHO is answering that question.

If that is something we can’t quite figure out yet for ourselves, just observe the most successful people in the world. They are the greatest givers. They are those who are in the greatest service to the world.

start with who

Now, let’s try putting it another way. This time, with the WHY.

WHY do you want to be successful?

You can and you will come up with a long list of answers: “Because I want to have financial freedom. Because I want to provide more than enough for my family. Because I want to help other people become successful too.” The list could go on, and we all get those well-meaning intentions for wanting to be successful.

But the answer to that question WHY is really simple:

You want to be HAPPY.

But WHY is not the right question you want to ask to get the answer you are really looking for. It cannot provide you the answer that will truly fulfill you. That passion, that inspiration, that burning desire, they are not after the WHY. They are longing for the WHO.

You want to be happy because that is who you are — Happiness, an expression of your soul, which you truly are.

The same goes for WHY we all want and search for love. Because that is WHO we are — Love.

We are searching for ourselves. Success comes from first knowing who we are.

Then, everything else you want in life will come after that. Go for it, chase the dream, do whatever it takes, and however you’d like it done, have it your way.

What we are trying to succeed at in life is to become the expression of our souls. If we start with Who, it follows that the answer to the Why will come from the intention of becoming the fullest expression of our souls — the best version of ourselves.

The question Who makes the answer to everything simple.

There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not? – Robert Kennedy
