The Secret

As you learn The Secret, you will come to know how you can have, be, or do anything you want. You will come to know who you really are. You will come to know the true magnificence that awaits you in life – Rhonda Byrne

Can I share a secret with you?

That used to be my “vision wallpaper” I had on my laptop back in April 2014, which shows all the dreams I was aiming for. Then along this journey, the idea of writing a book just entered my awareness, so I added a mock image of a book in July 2014. I had this gut feeling that I should write “this book” without knowing what it is about.  I was clueless and didn’t even have a title for it, but I felt it would be something about becoming a superhero. And of course, I thought to myself that it would become a bestseller! *fist bump*

Around September of the same year, I started writing about random stuff, mostly about my personal experiences. The random writing went on for months until February of the following year when the pattern for the book was beginning to take form and the contents were falling into respective chapters. It was like the book was organizing itself and I felt the energy momentum building up, so I kept on writing for consecutive days. The ideas continued pouring in like I was able to access the “Writer” in me and I simply let the words out.

I finished the book in May of 2015, just a few days before my father’s birthday (he was the inspiration behind the book). Then, after weeks of searching for a publisher, I received an e-mail from Hay House!!!

Okay, it wasn’t really a publishing deal… (I just evoked the feeling of excitement because I believe that’s where the secret lies)

Going on, the e-mail was something like “tell your story to the world” from Balboa Press, the self-publishing arm of Hay House. The “this-is-it” feeling hit me so I jumped right in by sending an e-mail inquiry to the publishing consultant, who happened to be a fellow Filipino! (synchronicity, eh?)

Fast forward to March of 2016, what started as an image on my wallpaper has become a published book in reality – The Path to Awesomeness.

the path to awesomenessI must say that this not only carved a milestone in my life, it also reaffirmed that there truly is a greater Intelligence and Life Force behind everything there is in the Universe.

And the more I practice my alignment with the Source of all this Awesomeness, the more The Secret is revealing its work to me and through me.

I deeply and sincerely hope that I could impart to you, and learn from your own experiences as well, how we can be, do and have anything that will bring us greater joy in our lives.

Are you ready?

Let’s do this MotherFather!

Switch On

You are a human transmission tower, and you are more powerful than any television tower created on earth. You are the most powerful transmission tower in the Universe. Your transmission creates your life and it creates the world. And you are transmitting that frequency with your thoughts!

When we tune in to a particular TV station, we are tuning to its frequency and we receive the images broadcasted from that station. Similarly, we also transmit our frequency through our thoughts and the Universe responds to them by playing the images in our life experiences.

Rhonda said that if we want to change anything in our life, we have to change the channel and the frequency by changing our thoughts.

The problem though is that most people think about what they don’t want. The “don’t want’s” are more likely the things we complain about, the current reality we don’t want to experience, the problems.

Thinking about the problem will not solve the problem. Thinking about the solution will.

Thinking requires attention, and energy flows where attention goes. Energy creates. So the last thing we want to do is add more energy to the problem, and so create more problems, more don’t want’s.

Even better than thinking about the solution is thinking about thoughts that make us feel good. Or doing something that makes us feel good because the solutions make their way to us from that good feeling.

Switch the good feeling ON!

Secret Shifters

When you’re feeling down, did you know that you can change it in an instant? Put on a beautiful piece of music, or start singing – that’ll change your emotion. Or think of something beautiful. Think of a baby or somebody that you truly love, and dwell on it. Really keep that thought in your mind. Block everything out but that thought. I guarantee you’ll start to feel good.

I saw from a YouTube video clip a depressed man asking advice from Tony Robbins. His depression is coming from the falling apart of his relationship with his wife. Tony, sensing the man’s powerlessness, asked him to recall the last time he made love passionately to his wife. And just like that, his eyes began to glow, along with his body posture getting upright.

Now, let’s talk about your crush… See?! Just like that, something already shifted in you.

That’s what the Secret Shifters are.

You make a list of the things that can change your feelings in a snap – beautiful memories, future events, funny moments, nature, a person you love, or anything that makes you feel good.

Whenever you find yourself in a bad mood, turn to your Secret Shifters list and focus on one of them. If one doesn’t work, go to another.

For me, aside from my crush, I listen to my favorite songs with my headphones. I get to a comfortable position, do nothing else but listen to the music. I focus my attention on how the songs sound on my cans. It always works for me.

What works for you? Think that. Do that. Focus on that.

…I mean, aside from your crush.

It Loves Me? It Loves Me Not?

There is a truth deep down inside of you that has been waiting for you to discover it, and that Truth is: you deserve all good things life has to offer. You know that inherently, because you feel awful when you are experiencing the lack of good things. All good things are your birthright!

Can you recall Abraham Hicks’ teaching from Ask and It is Given? Well-Being is not something you need to earn. It is something you allow.

The Secret quoted Albert Einstein: “The most important question any human being can ask themselves is, ‘Is this a friendly Universe?’

What’s your answer?

The experiences you’re having are reflections of your answer. If you have been thinking that life is hard and a struggle, by the law of attraction, then life will come to your experience as hard and struggle.

If you don’t like the reflections you’re getting back, the experiences you’re having, you can always turn them around by shifting your perspective of how you see the Universe.

Let’s affirm: “Life is fun! Life is so good! All good things come to me!”

Know that you are worthy. You are deserving of all the good things in life. The Universe loves you. That is the answer!

The Creative Process

Ask once, believe you have received, and all you have to do to receive is feel good. When you are feeling good, you are on the frequency of receiving.

There are 3 steps in the creative process:

  1. AskChoose what you really want. But you must get clear about what you want. Go into details as specific as you can. How much income? What brand and color of the car? What are the qualities of your ideal partner? Make a list. Make a vision board too if you like.
  2. Believe – Claim it. Believe your desires are already fulfilled. Whatever you want is already yours. Feel the feeling of having it.
  3. Receive – Feel good. Receiving is all about feeling good. Feeling good emits a signal to the Universe that you are in the receiving place. You are in the state of allowing. You are matching the vibrational frequency of your desire.

Reminder: Know only WHAT you want. The “HOW” is not part of your job.

The Universe is a Master Chef. You are the customer. Place only the order of what you want. You don’t have to know how your food is going to be cooked. Just whet your appetite! Just feel good.

The Universe knows where you are and your desired destination. It will rearrange itself and it will show you the way.

Inspired Action

Action is a word that can imply “work” to some people, but inspired action will not feel like work at all. The difference between inspired action and action is this: Inspired action is when you are acting to receive. If you are in action to try and make it happen, you have slipped backward. Inspired action is effortless, and it feels wonderful because you are on the frequency of receiving.

Inspired action feels good while you’re doing it. And what does feeling good bring about? It puts you in the state of receiving. You don’t make it happen. It happens through you.

I love writing. But I don’t merely practice writing. I practice getting into the place of inspiration. I practice getting into alignment with the “Writer” in me (Source). I practice feeling good. When I practice that, writing happens through me. It just flows naturally.

Imagine a river moving downstream. When we act to make something happen, it will feel as if we’re going against the current. We paddle so hard in the opposite direction. But when we act inspired, it will be like flowing with the current. We ride with the flow. We enjoy the ride!

abraham hicks quote

Think in Advance

Make it a daily habit to determine every event in your life in advance, through your thoughts. Set the Universal forces ahead of you in everything you do and everywhere you go, by thinking the way you want it to go in advance. Then you are creating your life intentionally.

This is also one of the 22 processes Abraham Hicks laid out in Ask and It is Given, which is called “segment intending”. It’s setting an intention ahead of the events in your day.

You can do this every night by setting the intention of having a good night’s sleep and waking up the following morning refreshed. When you wake up, be grateful for a restful sleep and other things (the simple things) you can be thankful for. Then you can set another intention for your morning. Maybe for having a healthy breakfast that energizes you. Then before leaving home, you can set another intention to have a productive and stress-free day in the office.

This is practicing how to make The Secret work for you on a smaller scale. When you get good at the small things, you can move on to creating bigger ones.

The Power of Gratitude

With all that I have read and with all that I have experienced in my own life using The Secret, the power of gratitude stands above everything else.

Gratitude – the one practice all The Secret teachers have in common. Science also agrees that it can boost your happiness level by about 25%.

When you are thankful, you are shifting your attention to the things you already have and you turn away from the things you would usually complain about. The more grateful you are, the more you attract things to be grateful for.

gratitude quote

Ponder this: all the things you have now were once missing in your experience. But you have them now, while other people are still wishing for those things. Think and feel how blessed you are.

I don’t know what’s troubling you right now, but consider others who are in worse situations. Think and feel how blessed you are.

Always look for the things you are grateful for. Look for the simplest of things. Find the miracle in the ordinary, and your ordinary life will turn into a miracle.

If there’s one prayer you can say every day and night, let it be “Thank you.”

Begin With You

Many people have sacrificed themselves for others, thinking when they sacrifice themselves they are being a good person. Your job is You. When you make feeling good a priority, that magnificent frequency will radiate and touch everyone close to you.

Abraham Hicks has a funny way of putting this: the sick won’t get any better by getting yourself sick because their health has nothing to do with whatever your health condition is. You don’t deprive them of their wellness by being healthy.

The same goes for abundance. You cannot get poor enough to help the impoverished. You cannot make others thrive by starving yourself. Each and everyone can tap into the Source of unlimited abundance, and you don’t deprive them of their resources by tapping into your own. It is only in your thriving that you can offer anything to anyone.

Rhonda advises attending to your joy first. Because when you are in joy, you don’t even have to think about giving. It’s just a natural overflow.

What You Resist Persists

In our society, we’ve become content with fighting against things. Fighting against cancer, fighting against poverty, fighting against war, fighting against drugs, fighting against terrorism, fighting against violence. We tend to fight everything we don’t want, which actually creates more of a fight.

When we fight something we don’t want, we are only adding more energy to it. What we resist persists. It’s obvious. Did we attain peace by going into war? Why is there more sickness despite our efforts to eliminate it? How come when after fighting against cancer of the breast, the cancer cells just spread more throughout the body?

Maybe the way to peace is through peace. Mother Teresa said, “I will never attend an anti-war rally. If you have a peace rally, invite me.”

If we want healing to happen, we don’t fight the sickness. We must only acknowledge the sickness as a manifestation of an imbalance or a blockage in the flow of Well-Being that is always available to us. We focus on being healthy, thinking healthy, and getting healthy instead. We think empowering thoughts. We do things that strengthen the immune system, not the sickness.

What we resist persists. So, don’t resist. Allow everything, including the unwanted. Allow the unwanted, and the wanted will be received.

Awareness

All your power is in your awareness of that power, and through holding that power in your consciousness.

You are not your thoughts. You are also not the thinker. You are the awareness behind both.

Pause for a moment. Focus on your breathing for a while. Take 3 deep slow breaths and focus your awareness on your breathing. We do this to expand your awareness.

Now, be aware of the thoughts as they come and go in your mind. Just let them pass and observe. If you notice, there’s some kind of space between you and your thoughts. That space is awareness. That space is where your power lies.

I found meditation to be the most effective way to expand our awareness, so I would keep encouraging anyone the regular practice of meditation.

Once you become more aware of your thoughts, you will be able to discern your thoughts and choose what to focus on.

Awareness also makes you conscious of how you feel, which has a feedback mechanism with what you’re thinking. So whenever you don’t feel good, check-in with your thoughts. Then choose the good-feeling thoughts. Go to your Secret Shifters list. You’ll know if it’s working because you will feel it. You will feel the gradual relief with each positive thought you are thinking.

The Secret is powerful. But its power lies in the awareness of the beholder.

And you are it!
