When persons learn to function mentally at the deeper levels of relaxation of mind and body, creativity is enhanced. Memory is improved, and persons are better able to solve problems. From the altered state, they are able to direct the mind to do what they desire. – Jose Silva, The Silva Mind Control Method
The first time I encountered a mental training was a guided meditation exercise by Vishen Lakhiani (founder of Mindvalley and author of CodEx) one late night in 2013 at the office where I used to work.
It was followed by a guided creative visualization exercise by Lisa Nichols. Creative visualization, by the way, was pioneered and highly popularized by Shakti Gawain who paved the way for modern new-age consciousness teachers.
Later on, in 2015, I took the Unlimited Abundance course of Christie Marie Sheldon. She briefly mentioned that it was based on The Silva Mind Control Method.
“Silva what?…” was my initial reaction. I didn’t pay much attention to it and moved on.
Fast forward to today, it reemerged in my awareness when some local psychic offered a live seminar to teach it. I was amazed at her psychic abilities that it piqued my curiosity for The Silva Mind Control.
I got even more interested when Vishen announced that Mindvalley is reviving the method to be one of their latest Masterclasses.
And that was it… this has got to be on The Path to Awesomeness, too!
You know what I found out after reading the book and exploring it further? Those techniques that I mentioned above were all influenced, in one way or another, by The Silva Mind Control Method.
Because that’s what The Silva Mind Control Method does: it trains your individual mind to tap into the Universal Mind (or God-consciousness), your conscious mind into the subconscious mind (and we know that therein lies the power), which allows us to activate the limitless potential of our minds and thereby ourselves.
Many well-known personalities from various fields – business, arts and entertainment, sports, health – credit their breakthroughs to The Silva Mind Control Method. So it’s up to you how and where you’d want to apply it in your life.
Mind you that this technique was developed by Jose in 1966 and has continued to positively transform millions of lives around the world since then.
We’re so fortunate and blessed in this day and age that we can easily access The Silva Mind Control Method with just a click of a button.
Let’s tap into the power of our minds and become SUPER!
Alpha Level
This is a key concept in Mind Control. Once you become acquainted with these sensing faculties and learn to use them, you will be using more of your mind in a special manner. You will actually operate psychically whenever you want to, tapping in on Higher Intelligence.
The image below shows the different brainwaves, or the electrical activity of the brain (measured by EEG), depending on the state we’re in:
Right now, as you’re reading this, you’re at the Beta level, which is the brain’s normal functioning for our day-to-day activity.
In Mind Control terminology, it’s called “outer consciousness” since it focuses on the outer world using our thinking along with the 5 basic senses – touching, tasting, smelling, hearing, and seeing.
We enter the Alpha level when we drift off to sleep or the first few seconds of waking up. Then we move into the Theta and Delta as we go deeper into our sleeping state. However, we’re mostly unconscious of the activities that happen in those states and therefore, out of our control.
This is what The Silva Mind Control Method trains your brain for. Through its different exercises, you’ll be able to access the Alpha level consciously, tap into the “superpowers” of your mind, and use them however you see fit.
In the Alpha level (or simply “your level” as Mind Controllers call it), you are awake, aware, and in control.
Hypnosis + Electronics = The Silva Mind Control
The exercises from which Mind Control evolved called for relaxed concentration and vivid mental visualization as ways of reaching lower levels. Once reached, these levels proved more effective than Beta in learning.
Did you know how The Silva Mind Control Method came to be? Jose had been wanting to help his children with their academic performance in school and he wondered if their learning ability could be improved with some kind of mental training.
He already knew about the electrical activity of the brain. With his work background in electronics, he also knew that the ideal circuit is the one with the least resistance (“impedance”) because it makes the most efficient use of electrical energy.* So, he thought the same principle applies to the brain.**
To find out for himself, Jose combined this principle with his knowledge of hypnosis and applied them to his children.
This was his startling findings: the brain was more energetic when it was less active. At lower frequencies, the brain received and stored more information.
What’s more, it didn’t only improve his children’s learning ability, it also developed their ESP (extrasensory perception). While at her level, Jose’s daughter answered the question that he hadn’t asked yet. She was able to read his father’s mind!
Jose built on what hypnosis does and developed mental training exercises to reach the brain’s lower frequencies while remaining awake and alert. Thus, The Silva Mind Control Method was born.
* In electronics concept, this is known as Ohm’s Law, which states that the lesser resistance, the greater the current flow (electricity).
** Remember from Earthing, we discovered that our physical body is a bioelectrical machine and the brain is one of its electrical subsystems.
Step 1: Meditate
This means that those activities of the mind that make our bodies sick will be neutralized. The body is designed to be healthy. It has its own healing mechanisms built in. These mechanisms are blocked by minds not trained to control themselves. Meditation is the first step in Mind Control; by itself it will go a long way toward setting free the body’s healing powers and giving it back the energy once squandered on tension.
What’s the tool that lowers the impedance of the brain? Meditation – the first step in Mind Control.
The activities Jose refers to are the lower vibrational energies such as worry, guilt, and anger that make our bodies sick. What causes them? Resisting thoughts that impede the flow of current. Again, the higher the resistance (impedance), the lower the electrical activity (energy).
What meditation does is it quiets down those loud thoughts, making the brain less active, allowing it to reach the Alpha level. At that level, Jose said you free yourself from worry, guilt, anger. The body is then able to use the freed-up energy for its self-healing mechanism.
Joe Dispenza says the same thing in Becoming Supernatural that you take your power back with meditation by releasing the old stuck energy and use it to recreate yourself anew.
Here’s how you meditate using The Silva Mind Control Method:
- Close your eyes and look upward (behind your eyelids) at a 20-degree angle.* It was found that positioning the eyes at this angle triggers the brain to produce Alpha.
- At 2-second intervals, count backward from 100 to 1 in your head (visualize the number to help you focus and not fall asleep). Keep your mind on it until the last count. Do this exercise for the first ten mornings. Then you count 50 to 1, 25 to 1, 10 to 1 ten mornings each for the succeeding days, which makes a total of forty. These sessions will bring you to “your level.”
- When you reach the count of 1, exit your level by saying mentally, “I will slowly come out as I count from one to five, feeling wide awake and better than before. One-two— (prepare to open your eyes) —three— (open eyes) —four-five—eyes open, wide awake, feeling better than before.”
* Fun fact: while listening to alpha binaural beat, I felt my eyes pulsating as I look upward at around the 20-degree angle. Amazingly real!
Guess what? Jose’s daughter, Laura, just read your mind, too! She prepared a series of guided meditation to walk you through the process. Included in this playlist are additional exercises (do one each day for 10 days):
Mirror of the Mind
As you work on each problem, begin by briefly reliving your best previous successful experience. When an even better successful experience comes along, drop the earlier one and use the better one as your reference point. This way you will become “better and better,” to use a phrase with an especially rich meaning for all of us in Mind Control.
Ready to use The Silva Mind Control Method to solve a particular problem of yours?
Quoting Einstein, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”
At what level are problems created? Beta.
At what level can they be solved? Not in Beta.
There are also other laws Jose suggested that we must observe:
- Law 1: You must desire that the event takes place. By Law of Attraction, Abraham tells us that we’re already doing this naturally because of the contrast that life presents to us. By contrast, we mean the dualistic nature of reality: if we lack money, we desire money. If we’re sick, we desire good health. You get the idea.
- Law 2: You must believe the event can take place. If you cannot believe it will happen, your mind will be working against it. “Resistance.”
- Law 3: You must expect the event to take place. But expect without attachment. Meaning, don’t get attached to one particular outcome. If you insist, you might miss out on other possible outcomes that are often much better than expected.
- Law 4: You cannot create a problem. It simply won’t work at the Alpha level, solution-consciousness. Problem-consciousness only occurs at the Beta level.
With that, let’s proceed to The Silva Mind Control technique called “The Mirror of the Mind.”
PS: Jose experiments revealed that our minds experience time flowing from left to right. The past is perceived on the right, while the future is on the left.
PPS: The continuous beeping on the background is the Alpha beat for brain entrainment to keep you at the level during the exercise.
Three Fingers Technique
Once you have accomplished this you will be ready for new ways of acquiring information, making recall even easier. Equally important, these new ways of learning will not only make recall easier but will both speed up and deepen your understanding of what you learn.
You can hack your way to your level using a triggering mechanism called the Three Fingers Technique.
Once you reach Alpha during your meditation exercise, say to yourself (silently or aloud), “Whenever I join my fingers together like this (join your thumb and two fingers on each hand) for a serious purpose, I will instantly reach this level of mind to accomplish whatever I desire.“
For example, you want to remember something important, you can say: “Whenever I join my fingers together like this, I will instantly reach this level of mind and I will remember everything I need.”
Incorporate this daily in your practice for at least a week using the same words. What happens is there will be a mental association between the Three Fingers Technique and reaching your level.
You will then be able to use it for “instant recall” in various practical applications. In the book, they cite some examples of how The Silva Mind Control Method students improved their memory and enhanced their learning capabilities.
Like mastering any skill, this requires regular practice. The more you do, the better you get at it.
And soon enough, this technique will become a handy tool at your disposal.
The Power of Two
The body’s natural state is good health, and all its processes are geared toward health. In time, though, with enough verbal pounding away at its defenses, it delivers up the very illnesses we order.
Two things add power to the words we use: our level of mind, and our degree of emotional involvement with what we say.
The Silva Mind Control method recognizes the power of words, and echoes Louise Hay’s practice of mental housecleaning and affirmations, though it’s termed differently.
It also reminds us of Don Miguel Ruiz’ 1st agreement to be impeccable with our words because they are powerful. And Jose cautions that they’re even more powerful in Alpha and Theta states.
Two things amplify it: (1) the level of mind, and (2) the degree of emotion
If you can recall, they’re the two factors that make up the equation for heart coherence, which becomes your state of being, or in this regard, your level.
Jose adopted two principles from autosuggestion, another form of psychotherapy taught by Dr. Émile Coué, and made them the basis for the Silva Mind Control. They are:
- We can think of only one thing at a time, and
- When we concentrate on a thought, the thought becomes true because our bodies transform it into action.
To that end, there’s one affirmative statement we always suggest to ourselves at the end of every meditation session:
“Every day, in every way, I am getting better, better, and better.”
Alternatively, we can also suggest: “Negative thoughts, negative suggestions, have no influence over me at any level of mind.”
The Silva Mind Control practitioners have found these two statements powerful enough to put anyone in a state of awesomeness!
Mind Control Over Sickness
There are three basic things we ask patients to do. We ask them to visualize their disease, visualize their treatment, and to visualize the body’s immune mechanism.
[In our group sessions] what we talk about is picturing what we want to come about. Before we believe it will come about.
In the book, you will find several testimonies of self-healing attributed to mind control, from common to rare diseases including cases of spontaneous remission.
It outlines 6 steps in healing yourself, which incorporates the techniques we covered previously.
- Begin—in Beta—to feel yourself becoming a loving (and therefore a forgiving) person, and to consider love as an end in itself.
- Go to your level. Sick thoughts don’t exist beyond Beta, so merely going to Alpha activates your body’s self-healing mechanism.
- Mentally speak to yourself about step one. Think and focus on positive, loving, and healing words.
- Mentally experience the illness that is troubling you. Use the mental screen and see and feel the illness. This should be brief; its purpose is simply to focus your healing energies where they are needed.
- Quickly erase this image of your illness and experience yourself as completely cured. Feel the freedom and happiness of being in perfect health. Hold on to this image, linger over it, enjoy it, and know that you deserve it.
- Reinforce your mental housecleaning once again, and end by saying to yourself, “Every day in every way I am getting better, better, and better.”
Do this exercise as often as you can until you fully embody the healthy person that you visualize. If you can see it in your mind, you will see it in your body.
Psychic Healing
While the techniques of faith and psychic healing may be different, I believe their principles—and results —are the same. Rituals of faith healing differ from one culture to another, but they have the same twofold effect: to induce a deeper level of mind, and to buttress belief and expectation.
What’s awesome about healing, and this not only applies to Mind Control, is that we can extend it to anyone, which is equally beneficial to both parties.
Here’s how we do it using The Silva Method:
- It is helpful, though not necessary, to know the condition of the person you want to help.
- Go to your meditative level and project this person onto your mental screen with whatever ailment is troubling him. Place another image on the screen to the left, showing something being done to correct the problem.
- Project onto the screen—still farther left—a vivid image of the person in perfect health, filled with energy and optimism. Jose says this is the crucial step because at the Alpha level, you are working on the cause, not the effect (Beta level). Visualize the results you want as being already achieved. Then end the session, as usual, counting out 1 to 5 feeling wide awake and better than before.
The more advanced program offers courses that involve detecting psychically what’s ailing the person to come up with a potential cure to the illness.
The important thing to understand here is that healing takes place when one comes into alignment with his/her own Source of well-being. What the other person, the “healer,” really ever does is assist in the process.
When we believe that one person can heal another, it’s not the person that heals but the belief. It’s not the faith healer, but rather the faith.
Dream Control
When we interpret a dream which we preprogram, in addition to gaining insights into the pathology of our psyches, we find solutions to everyday problems.
Not only will you benefit from Mind Control during your waking hours, but even so while you’re asleep dreaming.
You’ve probably heard many stories of inventive and innovative ideas that came from a dream. My Filipino book, Ganito Kami Noon, happened to be one of them. So I can truly attest to the magic our dreams can bring.
And everyone has access to this magic. It’s only a matter of becoming aware of it so we can receive whatever it has to offer.
With the Silva Method, now you can!
Here’s what Jose teaches us to do: While meditating just before going to sleep, say, “I want to remember a dream. I will remember a dream.” Now go to sleep with paper and pencil by your bedside. When you awaken, whether during the night or in the morning, write down what you remember of a dream. Keep practicing this night after night and your recall will get better.
If you’re seeking a solution to a specific problem, the suggestion will be: “I want to have a dream that will contain information to solve the problem I have in mind. I will have such a dream, remember it, and understand it.“
Trust the answer you’ll receive. It’s your soul speaking to you.
Only you can interpret the dreams you decide to have. With proper self-programming beforehand to understand your dreams, you will have a “hunch” about their meaning. The hunch is often the way our voiceless subconscious communicates with us. With practice, you will develop more and more confidence in these programmed hunches.
Mind Control in School, Care Facilities, and Business
True, most of us are imprisoned by narrow ideas of who we are and what we can do. You will soon experience the exhilaration of smashing these confines and finding new freedoms outside them. When you see what you are capable of, your self-esteem will soar.
The final chapters of the book illustrate some of the experiments conducted that show a boost in the self-esteem of individuals who had undergone The Silva Mind Control program. They include groups of students, alcoholics, drug addicts, the welfare poor, prison inmates, and mentally-ill patients.
The beneficial changes were common among the graduates. They saw themselves as far better persons, felt a new sense of confidence in their ability to solve their problems, and became more open to life experiences.
One account of a drug addict who did the Mind Control training 3 times a day had himself fully drug-free in 30 days. The Mind Control instructor asserts the previously held assumption on healing: “Change the programming at the cause level, the subconscious mind, and you change the behavior patterns at the effect level.” That’s the way to work on your habits.
In the business world, companies that included Mind Control training in their employee program contributed to the overall positive attitude toward their jobs and improved relationship among co-workers.
Graduates were able to come up with innovative ideas and effective marketing strategies that in turn generated higher revenue. One company that applied the problem-solving techniques had accomplished 18 inventions ready for the market during its second year.
The list goes on and on.
Jose says it’s beyond solving problems or manifesting your desires:
When you realize what enormous powers we were all born with, when you see in your own experience that these powers can only be used constructively, you come to realize that there is a dignity and a purpose behind our presence on this planet.
The possibilities are endless. It sounds paradoxical, but controlling your mind gives you freedom!
Mind control unleashes the power of your mind.
Become SUPER!
