By releasing your trapped emotions, you will be removing the unwanted negative energy-clouds that are hampering the normal function of your tissues, and you will be helping to re-establish the free flow of energy, thus helping your body to heal itself. – Dr. Bradley Nelson

Picking up where we left off, The Healing Code, we’ve got another awesome tool. And it’s a code, too — The Emotion Code.

We’re diving deeper into the field of energy healing now, which I strongly believe will be the future of medicine.

Hep! Not raising an argument here. The conventional western approach will still be part of that. It’s also a healing tool, one that will always have its place in holistic treatment. But as we gain more knowledge and advance with technology, the energetic approach will assume the major role. The “alternative” method will become the “primary”.

Why? Because the truth is we’re only rediscovering what has been there for eons ago. These techniques are all based on the ancient wisdom that everything is energy.

Matter – our physical body, and everything else that we can see, touch and feel physical – is energy in its densest form. Sound is also a form of energy vibrating in a different frequency. That’s why we can’t see it, but we can hear it. And you can feel it too, right? Only not in a tangible way. And those “butterflies in your stomach”? They’re energy, in motion. Hence, e-motion. Makes sense?

I hope it does because that’s what we’re going to deal with in The Emotion Code. Not the positive emotions that make you feel you’re flying, but the ones that hold you down and keep you from living an awesome life.

We’re talking about the “elephant in the room.”

Trapped Emotion

Trapped emotions actually consist of well-defined energies that have a shape and form. Although they are not visible, they are very real.

Because trapped emotions are nearly universal, and because they always create distortion in the energy field of the body, and because they are completely invisible, they can cause an incredibly wide variety of physical problems without being unmasked.

Really nothing bad about “negative” energies. They’re part of the whole human experience. There won’t be any good in the “positive” energies if not for them.

As we’ve said, emotion is energy in motion. So, what actually makes these emotions bad is when they stopped moving. When they become trapped inside our bodies.

In his teachings, Eckhart Tolle calls it “pain-body”:

The pain-body is my term for the accumulation of old emotional pain that almost all people carry in their energy field. It consists of negative emotions that were not faced, accepted, and then let go in the moment they arose.

Not your fault, okay. It’s a human condition. Dr. Brad says that trapped emotion is universal. It happens to everyone.

Trapped emotion is also what’s causing stress — physiological stress, which (as we’ve learned from The Healing Code) is the one thing that blocks healing. It blocks the flow of energy in the body, distorts our energy field that leads to all sorts of problems.

What does The Emotion Code do? Really quite simple: it releases the trapped emotion. It clears away the “emotional baggage” so you can regain your life, or even create a better one.

Talking to the Body

Your subconscious is also aware of any trapped emotions that your body may be harboring, and it also knows exactly what effect these trapped emotions are having on your physical, emotional and mental well-being. All of this and more is tucked away in the subconscious mind.

Your entire body is intelligent, not just your brain. Your organs are separate intelligences within your body that perform certain functions and produce specific emotions or feelings.

Remember “cellular memories” we talked about in The Healing Code? That these memories are not just stored in your brain, but in your entire body.

And also what Dr. Joe Dispenza refers to the energy centers of the body as “the plexus of neurons”? That each one is a mini-brain and therefore has a mind of its own.

Not only is there a connection between the mind and the body, but the body itself is also part of the subconscious mind. This is why the body systems (heartbeat, digestion, etc.) can operate without us having to consciously think about them.

Now, Dr. Brad adds that it’s the organs in the body that actually produce the emotions. For instance, anger is emanating from the liver or gall bladder. Betrayal is coming from the heart or small intestine.

Interesting, eh? It’s crucial to know this since a huge part of The Emotion Code is communicating with your body in order to find out what particular emotion is trapped inside you.

Resonance

Each trapped emotion resides in a specific location in the body, vibrating at its own particular frequency. Before long, that vibration will cause surrounding tissues to vibrate at that same frequency. We call this phenomenon resonance.

Dr. Brad demonstrates this phenomenon via tuning forks. If you strike a tuning fork that vibrates at 512 Hz, all other tuning forks of the same frequency would respond by humming.

Similarly, if you strike a tuning fork and place it against a glass pane, the glass will also vibrate at the same frequency.

Now, consider these: we are vibrational beings and emotions also vibrate at different frequencies.

Ever wonder why we get triggered? Because we behave like tuning forks. Having a trapped emotion is like having a tuning fork that resonates with the frequency of a low-vibrating (negative) emotion.

Problem is, it will continue to vibrate to the point of creating imbalances in the body, leading to disease. It stays lodged in the body until it is completely released.

Lego Universe

Our universe is also made of little building blocks called subatomic particles. They are actually not particles at all, but you can think of them as infinitesimally small units of vibrating energy. If you put enough of these little energies together, you have an atom. Ultimately, the things we see around us and literally everything that exists, whether plant, animal, mineral, gas, liquid, solid or anything else, is made of these little building blocks, and they are made of energy.

Dr. Brad explains that the quantum universe is made of building blocks like Legos. In the same way that you can build anything with Legos, everything in the universe is also created by building blocks of energy.

What’s more is they are all interconnected. Which is why when you make a change in one particle, instantaneous and equivalent change occurs in a connected particle no matter the distance.

This was demonstrated in one study where blood cells were taken from a WWII veteran and placed in a Petri dish inside a laboratory miles away. The man was then shown various kamikaze clips. Amazingly, electrical activity readouts from him and his blood cells, which were miles apart, yielded the same results. All the time!

This is why distance healing works for energy healing modalities such as Reiki, The Healing Code, and also The Emotion Code. Because everything is connected in this field of energy!

Piezoelectric Effect

We now know that you generate an electromagnetic field, created by the electrical activity in your body. It is created by electrical currents in your nervous system as well as the electrochemical processes that are constantly occurring in all of your cells.

In 1956, Japanese scientists did the groundbreaking research that proved beyond a doubt that there were both electric and magnetic forces in the body. By exposing the body to pulsing electromagnetic fields, they created electrical changes on a cellular level and altered cell metabolism. This phenomenon is known in medical science as the piezoelectric effect.

Dr. Joe Dispenza is right! We do have an electromagnetic field. As he discussed elaborately in his last two books, it is the combined result of our thoughts (electrical) and our emotions (magnetic).

In Becoming Supernatural, he has also written a whole chapter on the pineal gland about its piezoelectric properties.

Dr. Brad sums it up by saying that the pineal gland is surrounded by magnetite clusters that are tuned to perceive and interact with magnetic fields. These are the same kind of magnetic clusters that pigeons, butterflies, and bees use to navigate the earth’s magnetic field.

Similar to electrocardiogram (EKG) and electroencephalogram (EEG) that measures the electrical activity of the heart and the brain respectively, scientists can now measure the magnetic field using magnetoencephalographs and magnetocardiograms.

Magnify Your Intention

Remember that a magnet actually magnifies your thought, which is energy. While holding the intention in your mind to release the trapped emotion that you have found, you simply pass a magnet over the Governing Meridian. Your magnified intention to release the trapped emotion enters into the Governing Meridian, and from there this thought-energy flows quickly into all the other meridians and areas of the body.

This sudden influx of intention-energy has the effect of releasing the trapped emotion permanently.

There are two components to healing with The Emotion Code: Intention and a magnet. Yup, you’ve read that right  a magnet. That’s again based on the electromagnetic principle: intention for the thought part (electrical) and a magnet for the emotion part (magnetic).

Dr. Brad stresses the importance of setting a clear intention behind the process. He says that it is possible to release trapped emotions using the power of intention alone. That’s how powerful thoughts are.

So, what’s the magnet for? It magnifies the intention. Not to mention, magnets have healing properties to boot.

In fact, there is such a concept as Magnetic Field Deficiency Syndrome (MFDS) where magnets are employed to facilitate the treatment.

With The Emotion Code, the magnet is run along the Governing Meridian, which is based on the ancient healing system of acupuncture.

A complete tutorial is found in the book. But the idea is similar to how running a magnet over your ATM or credit card can wipe out the bank details encoded in it. It does so too with the trapped emotion in your body.

Where Do Broken Hearts Go?

Each trapped emotion has its own particular rate of vibration, its own frequency. Just as an opposite sound wave can cancel out an extraneous noise, the energy of your magnified intention can cancel out the “noise” of a trapped emotion. When you pass a magnet over the Governing Meridian, you effectively create a flow of opposing energy in the form of magnified intention. Therefore, the trapped emotion gets cancelled out, it dissipates and disappears.

Noise-cancelling headphones, have you tried one?

Here’s how it works: It has a built-in microphone that listens to the external sound (noise), and then feeds the input (the frequency and amplitude of the noise) into the headphones’ noise-cancelling circuit, which then generates a new sound wave that is 180 degrees out-of-phase with the noise, thus cancelling it.

Dr. Brad says The Emotion Code works in a similar fashion, only that it cancels out the trapped emotion. (Dr. Alex of The Healing Code uses the same analogy for clearing cellular memories. Funny, being an audiophile / music-lover myself, I’ve used headphones too in explaining The 2nd Law of Awesomeness in the book. Ha!)

Muscle Testing

Muscle testing provides a real window into what is going on in the mindbody. Using muscle testing, we can literally gain access to our body’s internal computer system and find out where the imbalances are.

When it comes to our health, what our bodies can reveal to us is vastly more significant than what we ever know in our conscious minds.

Applying the knowledge that the body is the physical extension of the subconscious mind, The Emotion Code uses the technique called kinesiology or more commonly known as muscle testing.

Dr. Brad says it’s asking what the body knows. The body then responds accordingly to what it’s being asked. It strengthens when it’s a truth (or a “yes”); it weakens when it’s a lie (or a “no”).

To illustrate the point, Dr. Brad shares what Dr. David Hawkins (renowned spiritual teacher, psychiatrist, physician) used to do in his lectures. He will distribute sealed, unmarked envelopes to the audience. Half of them contain powdered artificial sweetener, while the other half has powdered Vitamin C. Then the audience will be asked to do muscle testing while holding an envelope.

Guess what they found out after opening the envelopes? Every single time the person holds the artificial sweetener envelope, the muscle goes weak. And when the person has the Vitamin C envelope, the muscle goes strong. Awemazing! Isn’t it?

It goes to show that the body knows better than our conscious mind. The good news is we can tap into its knowledge and learn to communicate with it.

The E-Code Process

This is a necessary and indispensable step towards releasing the emotion. It’s important for the trapped emotion to find expression in order to be released. By identifying it and bringing it to consciousness, we are validating the emotion and bringing a degree of closure to the situation that created it.

We are giving the trapped emotion a voice, and allowing it to be heard, in a sense. If we don’t do this, the trapped emotion will continue to make its presence felt by creating physical pain and/or emotional dysfunction.

Here’s an overview of how The Emotion Code is performed:

On the left side, you’ll see the procedure flowchart, which starts by asking: “Do I have a trapped emotion I can release now?”

Or you can go into your specific issue such as: “Is there a trapped emotion that is causing (whatever your issue is)?

The most important thing here, as Dr. Brad points out, is identifying the specific trapped emotion. Awareness is always the beginning of healing. That’s why the body keeps on giving us symptoms to make us aware. Those symptoms are their way of communicating with us.

So there’s also The Emotion Code Chart, as you can see on the right side, to help us identify the trapped emotion. If, for example, the emotion isn’t found on the list, you can pick the one closest to it.

Dr. Brad also teaches in the book how you can release inherited trapped emotions from familial past generations. Yup, similar to cellular memories (from The Healing Code), there could be trapped emotions that were passed on to you.

Lastly, “surrogate testing” is also another benefit offered by The Emotion Code. You can use this awesome healing tool on behalf of another person, even an animal. Yes!

Heart Wall

Your subconscious mind – which knows no limitations – will sometimes use the energy of these trapped emotions to create a barrier or shield around your heart. Literally, it creates a wall of energy around your heart, to protect it.

No matter how important it was to your life at the time it was created, you will be able to live a happier, more connected life as soon as you can tear it down.

The body does what it does for a reason, protecting itself for our own sake. Yes, you might be mentally tough. But the heart, with all its tenderness, is the one that suffers from the trapped emotions. Their energy, when not released, builds up a wall surrounding the heart — what Dr. Brad calls The Heart Wall.

It might be metaphorical to our conscious mind, but to the subconscious mind, it’s actually real. Remember, the subconscious mind makes no distinction. It perceives everything as real.

When you feel like there’s a thick stoned-wall surrounding your heart, the subconscious mind takes it for real. And it’s a tragedy to not feel anything at all.

Reminds me of “The Big Melt” insight from The Choice for Love (I love that book!) The Heart Wall blocks the energy of love from flowing. It becomes stagnant and frozen in our hearts, that we can no longer give and receive love.

It’s about time we started tearing down The Heart Wall using The Emotion Code, and once again FEEL life and everything it has to offer. Because, as much as they need protection, our hearts feel both safe and strong when they’re overflowing with love.
